I have received the second indication that the new album will not be coming out until next year, likely in the early spring. This makes a lot of sense when you think about it: Rubin likes things to be pretty perfect, few details have leaked out so far and August is already almost half way over, and ZZ traditionally begins their touring season in early spring, which would be proper timing to tour in support of the new album.
In March of 2003 ZZ debuted two new Mescalero tracks at the Houston Rodeo. Maybe they will again debut new songs at the Rodeo in 2012.
More on this as details are learned.
Yes, I think it would have been unreasonable to expect the album this year with their nonstop touring. I also don't think they'll play any new songs on this your.
ReplyDeleteAs we wait for the new FC site, it's interesting to check out their Facebook wall. They started the wall in July 2008 (the next entry was almost a year later), and until very recently, most of the content was stuff from the FC site. In June of this year, perhaps foreshadowning the redo of the site, the Facebook wall started having content that wasn't on the FC site. There is some good stuff there including an interview with Elwood discussing BFG's stage rig. It would be nice if this recent stuff on the wall is the kind of content we can expect on the new FC site.
